Acura unveiled the RSX Prototype, a premium all wheel drive electric crossover that will be built on Honda's new global EV Platform. It will be the first model engineered in house on this platform and helps set the stage for the Zero subbrand. Production will take place at Honda's EV Hub in Ohio on the same line as the Integra, starting in the second half of 2026. The RSX Prototype debuted at Monterey Car Week events including The Quail Motorsports Gathering and Pebble Beach Concours d Elegance.

Design cues emphasize sharp lines and a bold front end, with a full width rear taillight that nods to NSX heritage. It rides on 21 inch rims and wears a coupe like silhouette with a fastback roof. A standout feature is bidirectional charging, enabling the car to power other devices or even a whole house, fitting a growing trend toward energy flexibility in EVs.

The RSX Prototype marks a strategic shift for Acura and its Honda parent. By grounding the model in an in house developed operating system and a global EV Platform, Honda signals a push toward tighter software control and quicker adoption of new tech. The bidirectional charging capability positions the RSX as more than a car, turning it into a potential energy resource for homes. Yet the leap from prototype to mass market will test costs, supply chains, and real world performance as many specs remain undisclosed.
