Four members of a UK family died on holiday when their car collided with another vehicle near Castro Verde in southern Portugal. The Serrano family, who lived in Thetford, were travelling from Faro to Mourao.

Two other people died in the crash, including the 19-year-old girlfriend of one of the sons and the 26-year-old driver of the other car. Mourao authorities declared two days of mourning and offered condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
