Yooka-Replaylee lands October release across platforms

Playtonic Games has announced Yooka-Replaylee, a spruced up version of Yooka-Laylee, will launch on 9 October for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X S and Nintendo Switch 2. The price in the UK is £24.99, with a 30 percent discount for players who own the original game.

The remake includes an art and animation overhaul, improved performance and resolution, a brand-new Rextro’s Arcade with isometric challenges, a new currency called Capital B coins, a revised map and collectibles tracker, and a new character named Mark who acts as a warp point and guide. It also brings revised controls and camera and a fully playable move set from the start, plus an orchestral score by Grant Kirkhope and David Wise.

Promotional materials describe Yooka-Replaylee as a reinvention rather than a simple remaster, and a new trailer is available to preview the updated adventures and features.

The release strategy leans on nostalgia while signaling a push into modern gameplay conventions. By bundling long-standing fans with new players, Playtonic and PM Studios bank on broad platform support and a refreshed presentation to widen the game’s appeal. The emphasis on a reinvention, not just a facelift, matters because it shifts expectations around what a remade classic should deliver.
