Nexon Games and LoreVault have announced Woochi the Wayfarer a single player fantasy action adventure set in Korea’s Joseon era. The game will release on PlayStation 5 Xbox Series X|S and PC and runs on Unreal Engine 5. It draws on The Tale of Jeon Woochi a classic Korean novel about a mage who fights injustice. A release date has not been announced. A two minute and twenty second teaser hints at tension with a shaman named Myoan and a silhouette of Woochi in a dense forest.

The project is being developed with input from Korean literature and traditional music experts. LoreVault is conducting location hunting across Korea to recreate the Joseon era in high quality 3D. The game promises a deeply immersive narrative and action featuring magical settings and Korean monsters, complemented by a soundtrack inspired by traditional Korean music composed by Jung Jae-il the musician behind Parasite and Squid Game.

The move to PS5 Xbox Series and PC shows a global ambition for a culturally rooted fantasy game. Using Unreal Engine 5 supports a high level of visual fidelity and dynamic combat that can appeal to players beyond Korea. The cross cultural collaboration raises chances of accurate cultural portrayal but also invites scrutiny from fans who expect respectful representation of Joseon era traditions. The absence of a release date means Nexon Games and LoreVault can pace development to meet international expectations while managing budgets and marketing.
