Two men were jailed after a vigilante attack in Biddulph. Lewis Tether, 26, hit the victim eight times with an axe and was jailed for four years. Samuel Clarke, 25, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and was sentenced to three years and nine months. The assault happened at 8.10pm on January 7 near Church Road playing fields, after the trio believed the victim was responsible for stealing Tether's quad bike. Ring doorbell footage captured part of the attack, which was later recovered by police. The victim required hospital treatment for a 4-5 cm wound to the back of the head and other injuries. CCTV led to the defendants' identification; Tether also possessed a bladed article in public.
