Reports Indicate Russia May Deploy Faster Jet-Powered Drones

Ukrainian authorities have reported an increase in encounters with jet-powered drones, believed to be faster than the current Shahed models. On a recent night, the Ukrainian Air Force encountered these new drones, adding complexity to their air defense efforts. Ukraine's Air Force Command noted that they faced up to eight jet-powered UAVs among a total of 78 Shahed attacks.While it remains unclear if any of these new drones were downed, their faster speeds could overwhelm Ukraine’s existing interceptor capabilities. Analysts suggest that these drones are modeled after Iran’s upgraded Shahed-238, which can achieve speeds of 500 mph, thus posing a significant threat to Ukraine's defense strategy which primarily relies on mobile fire groups and interceptor drones already strained by numbers of existing Shahed-136 deployments.
