In 2022, British acts had a significant presence, including names like Harry Styles and Glass Animals. This year, however, the highest-ranking UK artist was Artemas, known for the track I Like the Way You Kiss Me. The overall charts were led by US artists, with Benson Boone's Beautiful Things topping the singles chart and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department leading the albums chart. K-pop acts also made their mark, contributing several entries to the albums list, yet British stars such as Dua Lipa and Coldplay were notably absent from both charts.

This outcome highlights a shift in the global music landscape, where the dominance of US artists and K-pop groups leaves little room for UK talent. According to Jo Twist, the chief executive of the British record industry body, the market is becoming increasingly competitive. She emphasized that while 2024 may reflect the absence of major UK artists in the charts, emerging talents like Charli xcx and Artemas are beginning to carve out their niches internationally. This scenario raises questions about the future success of British pop music on the global stage.
