On March 20, 2025, the elusive Barbados threadsnake, the world's smallest known snake, was rediscovered after nearly twenty years without sightings. Connor Blades and Justin Springer from Re:wild found the snake in a forest on the island of Barbados, lifting rocks to reveal this rare find. The snake, measuring just about four inches, was identified after much effort due to its small size and resemblance to other snakes.
