Wild encounters are boosted with several familiar Pokémon appearing more frequently, and players can trade up to five Special Trades per day. Field Research tasks during the event offer encounters with Pikachu wearing a varsity jacket, Marill, Paldean Wooper, and Honedge, with a paid Timed Research option for US$5 that rewards a Premium Battle Pass, Stardust, and encounters with a broader set of Pokémon.

GO Battle Weekend runs alongside the main event, with all three leagues active in GO Battle League from August 15 to 17. Players can earn 4× Stardust from win rewards, increase daily battle limits to 100 battles, and access a free battle themed Timed Research. Rewards from Battle League encounters will feature wider ranges of Attack, Defense, and HP, encouraging players to push for improvements in their teams. Live streams on the Pokémon GO Twitch channel begin at 9:00 a.m. PDT on August 15 and 16, with additional coverage on August 17, inviting fans to watch the competition and learn strategy from top players.
