Liverpool FC Women have named Gareth Taylor as the new head coach for the club. The 52-year-old arrives from Manchester City where he led the team for five seasons and lifted the Womens FA Cup and League Cup, with runner up finishes in the WSL in 2023-24 on goal difference.

Taylor previously coached in Citys men academy for several years, later with the U18s group, before taking over the womens team in 2020.

His playing career spanned 18 years with almost 600 appearances in the Football League and more than 140 goals, and he earned 15 caps for Wales.

The appointment marks a new phase for the womens program at Liverpool as the club looks to build stability, recruit effectively, and push higher in domestic competition.

The move signals a push by Liverpool to translate on field progress into long term growth. Taylor brings trophy experience from City and a background in youth development that could help link the senior squad with academy players.
