A 24-year-old man in France was sentenced to a year in prison for swindling over two dozen women through dating platforms. The court in Strasbourg heard that the Afghan man used popular sites like Tinder to charm his victims and then stole their bank card details for online purchases. Nicknamed "Gigolo 2.0" by local police, he also took advantage of women’s hospitality by photographing their homes and then advertising them on rental sites. Additionally, he rented properties through Airbnb and posed as the owner to collect rent from unsuspecting renters. Although he received a two-year sentence, only one year will be served in prison. He argued that he needed the money to help smuggle his family to Europe.
